Plagiarism & Ethics Policy – International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (IJMRI)

The International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation (IJMRI, ISSN: 2454-7204) is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, research ethics, and publishing quality. This policy outlines our stance on plagiarism, research misconduct, and ethical responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors.


1. Plagiarism Policy

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Copying text, data, images, or ideas from previously published work without proper citation.
  • Paraphrasing or rewording someone else’s work without acknowledgment.
  • Submitting the same work to multiple journals simultaneously (duplicate submission).
  • Reusing one’s own previously published content without proper disclosure (self-plagiarism).

Plagiarism Screening

  • All manuscripts submitted to IJMRI undergo plagiarism detection using reliable software tools.
  • A similarity index above 15–20% (excluding references and standard phrases) may result in rejection or revision request.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Minor similarity: Authors will be asked to revise and resubmit.
  • Major plagiarism: Immediate rejection and blacklisting of the author(s).
  • Published article found plagiarized: Retraction notice will be issued, and relevant institutions will be notified.

2. Research Ethics Policy

Author Responsibilities

  • Submit original, authentic, and unpublished work.
  • Provide accurate data and acknowledge all sources properly.
  • Disclose funding sources, sponsorships, and potential conflicts of interest.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines for human and animal studies (if applicable).

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  • Provide objective, constructive feedback without personal bias.
  • Report suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical concerns to the editor.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Ensure fairness, transparency, and confidentiality in the peer review process.
  • Reject manuscripts that violate ethical or professional standards.
  • Publish corrections, clarifications, or retractions where necessary.

3. Publication Ethics Standards

IJMRI follows the guidelines of:

  • COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics)
  • ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors)
  • DOAJ Best Practices
  • UGC-CARE Publication Ethics

4. Misconduct Handling

If research or ethical misconduct is detected:

  • The Editorial Board will investigate the issue.
  • The author(s) will be given an opportunity to respond.
  • Depending on severity, outcomes may include:
    • Manuscript rejection.
    • Retraction of published work.
    • Blacklisting of author(s).
    • Notification to affiliated institutions or funding bodies.

5. Retraction & Corrections Policy

  • Articles may be retracted if found to contain major ethical violations, data fabrication, or plagiarism.
  • Corrections/Errata will be published in case of minor errors that do not affect the integrity of the research.

6. Disclaimer

The responsibility for the originality and accuracy of submitted manuscripts rests solely with the authors. IJMRI, its editors, and reviewers are not accountable for violations of plagiarism or research misconduct.
